Wearing a red-and-black sweater and jet-black trousers, Gene Vincent thrilled a capacity audience on his British debut at London’s Tooting Granada. He closed the first half of the all-rock show with a sensational performance that put him way above the rest of the artists in stagecraft and showmanship.

In spite of an old leg injury which has left him slightly lame, Vincent performed miracles with the mike stand - hoisting it above his head, twirling it around, and swinging his leg over it. Add a peculiar half-crouching stance, and his act - climaxing with the famous "Be-Bop-a-Lula" - was as exciting to watch as it was to hear.

As well as appearing on TV’s "Boy Meets Girls", Gene will be playing at least ten weeks of stage dates around Britain.

Berry will be effectively removed from the music scene for five years.
